Each country has its own local spirits and drinks. Hungary is no different, but it does have some wonderful wines, killer shots, and the controversial Unicum. In this Hour you will try all wines, beers and shots you like.
It's time to not only see but taste the culture:
- Spirits: Hungary's native spirit, Pálinka (a distilled brandy) is mainly produced in the Kecskemét region. Dreher's main rival is the Borsodi Brewery which also produces both világos and barna beers..
- Wines: These days 'Hungarian wine' is no longer synonymous with 'plonk,' the wine industry having largely recovered from decades of communist mismanagement. Taste some of the finer vintages recommended by a local sommelier on offer from Hungary's storied wine regions. Although Wines such as Bulls Blood and Tokaji are well-known, they aren't the only gems that Hungarian wine makers have to offer...
